Imperial Valley Mall - Ocotillo blooms in the hot desert sun—and so does Imperial Valley—the colorful regional mall that draws shoppers from a 100-mile area between El Centro, CA and Mexicali, Mexico. When sun shoots through the tower at the entrance it casts dazzling shadows of each sculpted Ocotillo cactus across the interior walls. At the food court an equally imposing tower glows with interior illumination by night and ultra-bright hues by day that stand up to the blinding sun. Flat Ocotillo “arms” turned at angles around the top give depth to the Ocotillo crown—without the cost of a true three-dimensional sculpture.
