Sarah Huie Coleman

Principal/Creative Director
Since 1996 Sarah Huie Coleman has driven the vision and success of Huie Design. Working with architects, developers, owners and her own creative partners, Sarah has built brands and entire environments that make a lasting impression, achieve market goals and put patrons and visitors at ease. Whether immersed in renovation or repositioning projects or urban development from the ground up, Sarah is highly sought for her conceptual skills and follow-through. As Creative Director, Sarah sets the tone for every project and client engagement, and oversees development from concept through design, fabrication, and construction administration.

Huie Design’s client list includes: General Growth Properties, CBL & Associates, Simon Property Group, North American Properties, Related, Thomas J. Klutznick, Poag McEwen, TVS & Associates, MG Herring, Cubellis, OWP/P, MSTSD Architects, and The Coca-Cola Company.

Huie Design has created complete environmental graphics branding and wayfinding packages for Thomas J. Klutznick / Related’s CityNorth in Phoenix, AZ; General Growth Properties’ Cumberland Mall in Atlanta, GA; Pinnacle Hills Promenade in Rogers, AR; Westfield’s (formerly Urban Retail’s) Galleria at Roseville in Roseville, CA; Simon’s Florida Mall in Orlando, FL; CBL and Associates Imperial Valley Mall in El Centro, CA; North American Properties’ SoDo in Orlando, FL and graphics for the Latin America Traveling World of Coca-Cola for the Coca-Cola Archives Group.

Sarah Huie founded the Environmental Graphics Division at Copeland Hirthler design + communications (currently Iconologic) in 1992. As Managing Director of Environmental Graphics for 4 years, she oversaw and coordinated all projects within the department.

While at Copeland Hirthler, she managed and designed a variety of comprehensive projects including the official Look of the Games, a complete graphics program for the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. Sarah’s other projects included: The International Olympic Committee’s “IOC Centennial Clubs” - their primary hospitality spaces during the 1996 Games; Stockholm 2004 Bid Committee’s hospitality spaces; ACOG’s exhibit for the International Committee for the Olympic Games Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland; The 1996 Atlanta Paralympic Games corporate offices; The Istanbul 2000 Olympic Games bid books; CenterMark’s Westland Town Center in Denver, CO; a complete identity/custom signage system for Mick’s restaurants and Simon DeBartolo’s Indian River Mall in Vero Beach, FL, Wallace One Stop for Wallace Enterprises in Atlanta, GA and the Powertel retail stores for Intercel in the Southeastern US.

Previously, Sarah served as Environmental Graphics Director at Sullivan Perkins in Dallas, Texas, where she provided project management and design services on projects such as Topanga Plaza in Warner Center, CA and Loehmann’s Fashion Island in Miami, FL. She also served as Senior Graphic Designer/Manager for RTKL Associates, Inc. in Dallas where her projects included: the AT&T Infomart Showroom; The Crescent in Dallas; Tower City Center, the Ritz Carlton Hotel and Bank One in Cleveland; Hudson’s Bay Centre in Edmonton, Canada; Meadowhall in Sheffield, England; and MLC Centre in Sydney, Australia.

Sarah Huie Coleman has two B.A.s, one in Psychology from Sweet Briar College, VA and one in Graphic Design/Packaging from the Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, CA, and has won several awards from such organizations as the International Council of Shopping Centers, National Society of Marketing and Professional Services, The DSVC (Dallas Society of Visual Communications), and Show South. Her work has been featured in Identity, VM&SD, Print, Communication Arts, HOW, and Interiors. She is an active member of the Society of Environmental Graphic Designers (SEGD), a committee member for the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) CenterBuild conference program, serves on the Madison Morgan Cultural Center board and has served as President of the Allied Design Council Board.
